Fed up with your indigestion.

Uh-oh here goes another blog!

I don't deal in truths. But i've got some stories. Will that do?

March 13, Tuesday. Overseas friends.
You can become friends with all kinds of people, especially those from different parts of the world, but when you meet someone with relatively the same background, you can’t help but become instant friends. Your heart does a little dance of joy because it’s such a relief to find someone who can relate beyond sharing the same past or set of friends.
The other day I had coffee and dinner with a filipina I befriended during an MUN conference in China who recently moved back to the Philippines. And what’s amazing is that despite our limited physical contact (once or twice?) and communication mostly via facebook, we could spend 4-5 hours effortlessly talking about everything from boys to work to partying to God. Our third culture experience has shaped our connection in such a way that makes it seem like we’ve always been old friends. And this is one of the reasons why i LOVE making overseas friends, especially during conferences. It’s not everyday that you meet people who are stuck in between two worlds as well.
I guess it goes to show how much easier it is to talk to people who have the same world views and are exposed to the same things. Given that IS kids are generally such a minority in school and almost everywhere else that isn’t well… inside the IS bubble, it’s hard to find. But once the connection is made it can last even across international waters.
